Every year we do the powwow circuit in our area. This year we’re a little late on the rounds but this past weekend we attended the Redhawks Bear Mountain Powwow.
We’ve been attending powwows for years now and it’s always amazing to see the children who attend and dance, growing up.
This year I didn’t wear my regalia since I was technically supposed to be taking pictures, but we had a great Taino presence attending.
It’s always great to see the Taino people attending these events and representing. It gives us an opportunity to remind people that the indigenous people of the Caribbean where not wiped out.
And the torch is being passed down to our children who will continue to represent at these events.
And for me it’s always great to see my friends and family.
The Redhawks next powwow will take place at Randal’s Island in New York. For more information visit https://redhawkcouncil.org/
